Mudra as transmitted from Space

A mudra is a seal formed with one’s fingers. It symbolizes the equanimity and non-difference that exist between the mind of a Buddha and the true nature of all sentient beings.
The secret mudras that are being transmitted in Vajrayana Buddhism are embedded with hidden meanings. The ten fingers represent the ten Dharma realms, and they also symbolize the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind and space.
Another interpretation suggests:
The thumb -- the wisdom of ultimate reality.
The index finger -- the great mirror-like wisdom.
The middle finger -- the wisdom of equanimity.
The ring finger -- the wisdom of discriminatory awareness.
The little finger -- the all-accomplishing wisdom.
The right hand’s formation of a mudra represents blessings, whereas the left hand’s formation of a mudra represents wisdom.
When I first learned to form mudras, they were transmitted to me by my spiritual teacher, the Eminent Sanshan-Jiuhou, who resided in space. I was seated in meditation with my palms placed together. Gradually, my fingers began to bend, straighten and turn automatically, and in so doing, formed different kinds of mudras.
Thus, the many mudras found in the True Buddha School were first transmitted from space. This is true. I, Living Buddha Lian-sheng, Sheng-yen Lu do not lie. My mudras were indeed transmitted directly to me from space. When I was studying these mudras, I found them amazing and incredible, as they could transform freely in many unexpected variations. It was simply magical and extraordinary.
Back then, the Eminent Sanshan-Jiuhou told me, “A mudra connects the mind to the body. In this way, the body reflects the mind. As the body and mind become one, its transformations are endless.”
When the mudra is connected with the heart, nothing shall stand in the way. When I later learned of the ‘heart of heart mudra’, I instantly realized that when I formed this mudra, and made contact, I would directly touch the heart of the principal deity. At this moment, the heart of the practitioner and the heart of the principal deity are interconnected.
Let me say this. When your hands form the mudra, it creates a matrix of adamantine adornment that emits infinite streams of light, illuminating all of creation!
